Carissa macrocarpa or Carissa grandiflora, blooms mainly in summer, and sporadically all year long. Flowers are star shaped with about 5 cm in diameter, thick and waxy.
Ideal for seaside planting because they shrug off strong winds and tolerate both salty soil and salt spray. This makes them an ideal option for seaside conditions and locations. Pots friendly shrub and very much suitable for gazebos, decks and balconies. Also, it can be grown to be a prefect and eye-catching Bonsai shrubs and multi shaped entrances flowering shrubs (as it is easy to be trimmed and pruned to achieve any desired shape).
Carissa plant care is easy to grow and take care of, as it does not need high level of expertise or knowledge, as far as you pick the right spot for it within your garden. it needs afternoon shade in well-drained soil.
Upright types are popular as hedge plants, and sprawling types make good ground covers.
Ideal Spacing is 45 cm when it is planted as hedge plants. 50 cm in case of ground cover use.
